intrauterine insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) in Sharjah

At American Fertility Centre — Sharjah, our IUI service places lab-prepared, high-quality sperm directly into the uterus at the optimal time to improve the chance of fertilisation. IUI is a widely used, minimally invasive fertility treatment offered for specific indications as a first-line assisted technique before moving to advanced options like IVF.

What is IUI?
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a simple outpatient procedure where washed and concentrated sperm are introduced into the uterine cavity using a soft catheter at ovulation to increase the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes. It’s commonly combined with ovulation monitoring or mild ovarian stimulation.

Success rates & realistic expectations
IUI success varies by age, cause of infertility and whether medications are used. Typical per-cycle pregnancy rates often range from about 10–20% in younger patients, decreasing with age; multiple cycles may be recommended before considering IVF. We provide personalised success estimates during counselling.

Semen preparation (washing & concentration)
